Monika has been living in United States since 1981, but maintains a residence in Warsaw, Poland.
She is an active member of the community in Warsaw, and has been involved in many charitable organizations like International Women's Group, The American Friends of Warsaw and Warsaw Destination Alliance. She was a president of PTO at the prestiges American School of Warsaw where her team organized some wonderful events to support the school and the expat community, including Fall BBQ, UN Day, Book Sale, Teacher's Appreciation Day, Spring Fair, just to name the few... www.asw.waw.pl
Her Charity work included organizing and finding sponsors for numerous AFW Charity Galas to aid the construction of new Emergency Room at the Litewska Children's Hospital, help with medical equipment purchases at Litewska & Działdowska Children's Hospitals. The annual "Make a Wish" Christmas Gift drive benefits children living at various orphanages around Mazowieckie County. Each year up to 6 institutions around Warsaw provide gift tags for each child with their Christmas Wish and ASW parents go out and purchase these gifts. A week before Christmas AFW members deliver the presents to their new and happy owners.
Monika organized, bought and delivered individual Christmas gifts to orphanage in Zambrów a small town in North-Estern part of Poland as well as the Caritas Centers in Zambrów and Łomża. She fulfilled the Zambrów Chldren's Home director's dream of owning a commercial laundry spinner (cost new 14,000 pln) to make the daily task of washing many sets of bed sheets a breeze. Her work was recognizes by the Bishop of Lomża and he remains a close friend of the family to this day. |
